To err is human; we are not created as perfect beings. Instead we have a choice to lead our lives the way we want. We have a sense of conscience that guides us in the right direction. If someday, you commit a sin and your heart starts pinching you about it, it is natural to have a guilty feeling. We try to hide it from everyone. You should remember that one of Allah’s glorious names is ‘Al – Baatin’. Its meaning is “The Knower of All Hidden Things”. Even if you hide your sins from everyone else in the world, there is one Supreme Creator who will always know all hidden secrets. So, open up your heart before Allah and confess your wrongdoings to Him.

Why Confess Before Al Baatin

The best part about admitting your sins before Allah is that Allah will never disclose your sins before anyone. If you confess before anyone else, you will always remain worried. The other person might discuss your sin with someone else. However Allah is a confidant and a trustworthy friend who will keep your secrets. It also brings in another positive effect: Allah will direct tranquility towards your heart. The restless feeling that you previously had because of committing the sin will fade away.

Hadith About Sins

Abu Huraira reported:

The Messenger of Allah, (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Verily, when the servant commits a sin a black spot appears upon his heart. If he abandons the sin, seeks forgiveness, and repents, then his heart will be polished. If he returns to the sin, the blackness will be increased until it overcomes his heart. It is the covering that Allah has mentioned: No, but on their hearts is a covering because of what they have earned.” (83:14)
